Burmese: tah to prevent in any way; LB *thax a prohibitive particle.
Lepcha: tho to arrrest, to impede, to hinder, to retain, to detain, to stop, to hold enough, to defer
Comments: The root is also used as a negative imperative. Cf. BG: Dimasa, Garo da; Kanauri tha; Vayu ta. Sh. 132, 427; Ben. 97. In Chinese cf. also 止 *tǝʔ 'stop'.
