\data\nostr\nostret
Eurasiatic: *menV
Meaning: body
Altaic: *mḕnò (+ *meŋu 'whole, body')
Uralic: (*muŋkV)
Dravidian: *mēn-
Comments: Cf. *mänV.
References: ND 1434 *me(y)n̄U 'oneself, one's own, body' (Alt. + Drav. + scattered IE and SH, hard to distinguish from reflexes of *mänV 'man, person'). In fact the only distinguishing group here is Drav. So Alt. *mḕno may in fact reflect *mänV, and the root for body can be reconstructed as *meŋV (Alt. *meŋu, Drav. *mēn-)? Cf. ST *maŋ 'body' (and SC *HmVŋV 'corpse').
