\data\cauc\abadet
Proto-West-Caucasian: *pǝč́:a
North Caucasian etymology: North Caucasian etymology
Meaning: 1 brown 2 yellowish 3 to rust
Abkhaz: a-ʕʷa-bǯ́a 1
Abaza: ʕʷa-bǯ́a 1
Adyghe: ʁʷā-pč́a 1,2
Kabardian: ʁʷā-bža 1,2
Ubykh: ʁʷǝ-pč́á- 3
Comments: Ub. a-ʁʷǝ-pč́á-n. All forms go back to the PWC compound *ʁʷa-pǝč́:a (with *ʁʷa- "yellow" q.v.). Correspondences are quite regular, thus there is no need to consider the PAT form as an Adygh loan.
