Comments: ТМС 1, 242, 243. Despite the doublet in Manchu, the forms meaning `coin, money' and `valuables' are hard to separate. Most probably we are dealing with interdialectal and interlingual loans: Manchu ǯaqa `thing(s)' < Southern TM, while Manchu ǯiχa `coin, money' (with a secondarily developed meaning) > Nan. ǯịχa, Orok ǯaχa, Ul. ǯêχa etc. `money'. The original meaning (preserved, e.g., in Negidal) appears to have been `valuable things destined for dowry'. Man. > Dag. ǯiga 'coin'.
