Comments:KW 42. Mong. *beltereg is a regular metathesis < *berteleg. Mong. börtü (berte) činua is translated as 'multicolored wolf (name of the legendary ancestor of Chinggis Khan)' and börtü is glossed in L 128 as 'mottled, speckled, grey' - but in fact it is basically used with činua and is probably the original deriving stem of beltereg. -büri in MMong. ǯö'e-büri, WMong. čögebüri 'jackal' may be borrowed < Turk. (see Щербак 1997, 163).
