PROTO: *dV̄G_(w)V
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: cock
DARG: *t:aʁʷa
ABAD: *t:aq:a
COMMENT: A Darg.-WC isogloss (see Mészarós 1934, 271, Abdokov 1983, 117). Phonetically and semantically quite plausible, thus the PNC antiquity is possible. But a similar root exists in Altaic (Turkic *takɨku / *tagɨku 'hen, cock', Mong. takija etc.), and an early loan is not excluded (note an obvious late loan: Darg. Tsud. t:awqa which stands quite apart from all other Darg. forms < Turkish tavuq).
PROTO: *dVɦwV
MEANING: flower
AAND: *dVHV
CEZ: *diʔi ( ~ -ɨ-)
COMMENT: A local Av.-Bezht. isogloss; PEC antiquity dubious.
PROTO: *dVlVgV
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: a small wild animal
NAKH: *dingV-ṭ (~-ī-,-ḳ-)
AAND: *dVrgV-lV
LAK: t:alak
DARG: *t:uk:V- (~ *d-,-g-)
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. The vocalism is hard to reconstruct in a trisyllabic root with some irregular phonetic changes (due to the root's expressive nature).

It is interesting to note Azer. dälä 'squirrel' (possibly < *däläg), which has no Turk. etymology and thus may be borrowed from an EC source (the Azer. word, in its turn, is borrowed in Kryz. dälä, Khin. delä 'squirrel').

PROTO: *dVrq̇wV
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: he-goat
AAND: *dVq̇(ʷ)V-n
CEZ: *ṭɨq̇ʷV A
COMMENT: This root is probably reflected also in HU: Hurr. taɣǝ 'man, male' (see Diakonoff-Starostin 1986, 26). There is not enough information to reconstruct the vocalism. *-r- is obligatory in the reconstruction to account for the preservation of uvular *-q̇ʷ- ( > Av. -ʕ-) in Inlaut; without a previous liquid *-q̇ʷ- regularly yields -ḳ-.
PROTO: *dwănʔV (~-nh-)
MEANING: sheep, ram
NAKH: *ta-bu
AAND: *dan(H)V
LAK: t:a
ABAD: *tǝ / *ṭǝ
COMMENT: Labialisation is suggested by laryngeal features (PN and PWC *t vs. d or t: in other languages), although it had actually been lost.

See Trubetzkoy 1930, 277, Abdokov 1983, 121 (adding also a number of unrelated roots in EC languages).

PROTO: *dwāɫɨ̄
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: stick
NAKH: *tāl
AAND: *dalV
LAK: t:ala
DARG: *t:ult:V /*t:alt:V
LEZG: *t:al
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. Correspondences are regular. Cf. also Hurr. tālǝ 'tree' (see Diakonoff-Starostin 1986, 25).
PROTO: *dwälc̣_V
MEANING: tree
NAKH: *ditt ( ~ -ī-,-ṭṭ)
LAK: t:arc̣
DARG: *duc:a
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. The comparison seems probable enough (although we would rather expect *t:arz in Lak.; lack of spirantization is probably due to an early assimilation: *dwälc̣_V > *dwälc̣_wV).
PROTO: *dwǝ̆nʔV
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: a k. of musical instrument
AAND: *dʷonʔV (~ -a-)
CEZ: *dɨbV- (~-i-)
DARG: *t:am
LEZG: *damdam / *daldam
ABAD: *tʷanǝ
COMMENT: An expressive (but obviously archaic) root. Irregular is -b- in PTs (and -b- in Tab.): -m- should be expected. It is not quite clear, whether the protoform should be *dwānʔV (with transfer of labialisation to -n- > -m- in some languages) or *dāmʔV (with a reverse process).
PROTO: *dwiHV
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: wind
DARG: *t:ʷaʕ (~dʷ-,-hI)
LEZG: *t:iH-
COMMENT: A Darg-Lezg. isogloss. Attested only in two languages, thus not very reliable.
PROTO: *dwirχE
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: child, son
DARG: *durχIʷa
LEZG: *t:ʷi(r)χ
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. The form *dwirχE, reflected in PD and PL, probably goes back to an earlier *u_V-dirχE (with the 1st class prefix *uV-); cf. PHU *wutqi, *witēqi 'son' reflected in Hurr. futqi, fitēqi (see Diakonoff-Starostin 1986, 20).
PROTO: *dwĭχi ( ~ -ɨ̆-)
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: snow, hoar-frost
NAKH: *tχi
CEZ: *χ:ɨda
DARG: *duχIi
ABAD: *tʷǝχʷV ( ~ -χ́ʷ-)
COMMENT: Except for metathesis in PTs (*χ:ɨda < *dɨχ:a) correspondences are regular. PN *tχi is a reduction < *tŭχi; in PWC there occurred an assimilation (*tʷǝχ́V > *tʷǝχ́ʷV).
PROTO: *dwīrq̇V
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: bank, valley, plain
NAKH: *tāʁV
DARG: *dirq̇(a)
LEZG: *t:irq̇(a)
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. Basically a Nakh-Darg. isogloss (the Agul form may be borrowed from Darg., see above).
PROTO: *dwɨ̆q̇(w)V̄
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: log, stump
NAKH: *duq̇V
DARG: *duḳ(i)
LEZG: *t:uq̇- (~d,-o-,-Vq̇ʷ)
ABAD: *t:(ʷ)aq:a ( ~ -q̇-)
COMMENT: The comparison between EC and WC forms seems quite plausible both phonetically and semantically. Labialisation of *-q̇w- is suggested by PD *-ḳ- (but it may be secondary, due to progressive labialisation). There is also a possibility of a reflex in Lak.: cf. Lak. ut:u-s:a '(wooden) beam', which may go back to *q̇wɨ̆d(w)V with metathesis.
PROTO: *dwŏnḳV̆
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: pit
AAND: *dʷVngV
DARG: *ṭVrgʷV
LEZG: *t:ʷaḳ
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. One of several expressive roots with the structure TVNKV / KVNTV meaning 'hole, pit'. Cf. also Osset. tugur 'attic, loft, ceiling' (of Caucasian origin, see Abayev 1979, 313).
PROTO: *fănV
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: mountain, hill
NAKH: *ħun
AAND: *xan-dV (~-o-)
CEZ: *χʷen A
LAK: han
DARG: *x:Vna
LEZG: *χ:ʷ[a]na
ABAD: *xʷA
COMMENT: In most EC languages the root means actually 'shady slope of a mountain' (i.e. part of the mountain heavily covered with trees). The root is also attested (with reduplication) in HU languages: Hurr. fāvanǝ, Ur. vāvānǝ 'mountain' (see Diakonoff-Starostin 1986, 19).
PROTO: *farnē
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: horse, mare
AAND: *xʷVnV
CEZ: *χar-am (?)
LEZG: *χʷar(a)
ABAD: *xʷara (~ f-)
COMMENT: The etymology seems satisfactory both phonetically and semantically. The root must have denoted a good horse, mare ('thoroughbred' in WC).
PROTO: *fimc̣_wV
MEANING: tick, a biting insect
NAKH: *χinč̣a
AAND: *xʷinc̣:V
CEZ: *hũc̣ɔ / *hũcɔ
LEZG: *χʷimc̣(a)
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. Correspondences are regular (note the variation *c̣/*c in PC, typical for reflexes of PEC tense *c̣).
PROTO: *fimḳwV
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: fist
AAND: *hunḳa (~-o)
DARG: *χ:unḳ
LEZG: *χ:i(m)ḳ
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. Correspondences are regular (one of the roots with the relatively rare phoneme *f).
PROTO: *fiwɨ ( ~ -b-,-o)
MEANING: grave
AAND: *xʷibV
LAK: haw
DARG: *χ:Iʷab
LEZG: *χut: ( ~ *χ:-)
COMMENT: Reconstructed for the PEC level. We can also reconstruct the obl. base *fiw-dV- (*fib-dV-), reflected in PA *xʷidV- = Lak. hat:a- / ħat:a-. = PL *χu-t:.
PROTO: *f_ɦä̆
PRNUM: PRNUM
MEANING: five
NAKH: *pχi(ʔ)
AAND: *ʔin-š:-tu-
CEZ: *ʎ:i-nɔ B
LAK: χ:uI-
DARG: *xu-
LEZG: *ʎ:ʷe-
KHIN: pxu
ABAD: *s-xʷǝ
COMMENT: The WC form has a prefix of unknown origin; despite this, and the lack of the expected palatalisation (*-x́ʷǝ would be rather expected), there can be no doubt in the common origin of the EC and WC forms. The rules of palatalisation are violated in WC numerals (cf. also EC *ƛHĕ 'three' : WC *ʎ:V), possibly because of original Ablaut.
