Proto-WChadic: *ŝaH-
Afroasiatic etymology: Afroasiatic etymology
Meaning: 'cow'
Dera=Kanakuru: láà [CLR: 92}
Siri: ẑáà-tí 2 [Sk]
Jimi: hla =ẑa 2 [CLR: 92]
Polchi: ŝa 1,2
Geji: hla =ẑa 2 [CLR: 92]
Buli: hla G, ŝa [Kr] both in {CLR}
Notes: Note thata number of South Bauchi languages and Ngizim show ŝV (as well as the most of CCh languages). Note that ŝV may be the word for a 'bull' (and secondary meaning is 'cow'). On the other hand Siri (the only one un the group) show a voiced reflex of a 'cow' and the word for 'bull' is a derivative - ẑā cǝki . Thus, *ŝV can be the AA word for 'cow' only (cp. ECush).
