Dravidian etymology :

\data\drav\dravet
Proto-Dravidian : *pīṇV́-
Meaning : corpse
Proto-South Dravidian: *pIṇ-a-
Proto-Telugu : *pīn-Vg-
Proto-Kolami-Gadba : *pīnig-
Proto-Gondi-Kui : *pīng-
Notes : A complicated case. The root was both shortened and umlauticized in SDR, which suggests its unaccented character; while in Telugu and CDR the root was only used with the suffix *-g-, but without assimilation *-ṇ-g- > -ŋ-, which again suggests a development *pīṇ-V́-g- > *pīṇ-g-.
