A good friend of one bought the original High Tide album in early 1973. I was student at the time. OK, it was the tail-end of the hippy era. The album really got to me. I actually had two copies of High Tide album at one point. Made a mistake. Lent them to a hippy-dippy mate, with whom I eventually lost touch. he went to Canada in 1981, never saw him or albums since.
Then I saw a the CD of Sea Shanties and High Tide listed in a record shop.I got it and it still sounds great. Sorry to drone on, but it brings back many poignant moments of '73. Maybe it was the student factor but British life seemed more hopeful then.

diggin' this one right now,imagine jim morrison fronting red-era king crimson and you'll see what i mean.pretty cool discovery!.by far the heaviest recording of the 60's,till the advent of black sabbath.i find it very listenable by today's standards,but imagine the horror in 1969.

I've still got a rather scratchy original album from 1969. I think it sold quite well as it was released at the height of the Folk Music boom in the UK at least. I saw one folkie return his copy to the shop and demand a refund! I wonder how many other copies went straight in the trash? I thought enough of it to buy the second album anyway and regret that I never managed to see them play live.
