ALBUMS
BACK ON THE STREETS

Paul Staunton <pdk.comet@verizon.net> (04.09.2001)

George, I read your comments on Gary Moore's Back On The Streets album. Your flattering comments on the album (especially the fusion tunes) included the following quote:

"Admit that if a person only produced three fusion compositions in his entire life, that doesn't mean they can't beat the shit out of somebody who's played fusion for years on end. Reason? A little annoying thing called talent."

You essay would leave a person with the impression that Gary does not have fusion in his past: that would be an incorrect assumption. Gary made three albums with Colosseum II which was a Jon Hiseman-led band that released three albums in the 1976-1977 era. Colosseum II was a band built on the blueprint provided by Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow and Wired albums. Moore really cuts loose (and writes too!) on this trio of albums (especially the second and third). Don Airey played the Jan Hammer role in this band.

To relate this band to your review of Back On The Streets: the fusion tunes on Back On The Streets were performed (uncredited) by Colosseum II. As far as I know, these tracks were the last recorded by Colosseum II as they did not release another album after Back On The Streets.

I really enjoy the effort that you have put into your site.

Not true, because Simon Phillips played drums on those tracks, not Jon Hiseman. He also plays on the title track and Brian Downey handles the rest.

And Hurricane is a Quadrant 4 rip-off!:)

G-FORCE

<andreas.broden@stim.se> (12.05.2004)

The vocals on the G-Force album is handled by Willy Daffern. He played in the bands "Hunger" and "Truk" before joining Captain Beyond in late 1976, recording the "Dawn Explosion" album in February and March of 1977. In 1979 Willy recorded a sole album with "Pipedream", that also had Tim Bogart of Vanilla Fudge fame on bass and played a few gigs around LA. Did some guest appearances on albums of dutch fusion cracks in that year. In 1980 he sang on the G-Force album by Gary Moore. Released a solo album in 1983, named "Abrupt Edge". Since then Willie Dee, as he called himself, quit music biz until he was asked to join ZoomlenZ in 1999, that just released a CD.

DIRTY FINGERS

Maurício de Souza Fonseca <mfonseca@brturbo.com> (12.05.2003)

I agree with your comments about this album. It´s very consistent, very raw, and I enjoy this. I just would like to know exactly when it was recorded (not released). If it was in 1980, was it before or after the recording of G-Force?

Why didn't you mention Glenn Hughes singing?
