\data\yenisey\yenet
Proto-Yenisseian: *χ[e]p (~q-)
Meaning: moon
Ket: qīp, pl. qi:ń3
Yug: xep, pl. xejfɨn1
Comments: ССЕ 301. Pump. xep (Срсл., Кл.) "moon" is actually a Yug form. Identification with qīp 'grandfather' (thus in Werner 2, 90) is no doubt a folk etymology: the plural forms are quite distinct (see under *χ[e]ʔ), and Ket -0-, Yug -f- can by no means be called "eine spätere Innovation im Ketischen und Jugischen".
