Kota : kāṛ cāv "person who dies somewhere so that his body is not found (kāṛ jungle)"
Toda : soy- (sot-) "to die (of others than Todas)"

Notes : Since the Toda form goes back to *sāj- (p. *sa-t-), the shortness of the vowel in the present tense stem should probably be explained by analogy with the past tense.
