Meaning : to curl, twist
Notes : B&E put this together with *pir-i- 'to twist', and while both roots really have the same semantics, phonetically the comparison is out of the question, since alternation *i/*u does not exist anywhere in such a context (no other examples of *pir/*pur can be found).
