Notes : Although the weak cluster *-nt- isn't actually present in any of the modern languages, it is the only way to account for the nasal in Tam. kuntali, etc. (actually pronounced as -nd-). PDR *gunt- > *gutt- > *gudd-; PDR *gund- would not have been assimilated, as strong nasal clusters do not develop into geminates under any circumstances.
