Proto-Dargwa: *duk-la
Meaning: bosom, at one's bosom
Akusha: dukla
Comments: Ak. dukla can be formally treated as a locative of dukala 'wing; armful' (PD *dukala). For PD two similar forms meaning 'wing' can be reconstructed: *dukala and *dux:ala (q.v.), reflected in different dialects. In PD there must have existed *x:ala 'wing' and *dukala ( < *dur(u)ka-la) 'bosom', with a subsequent mixture of reflexes. Cf. also perhaps Chir. dukla-ลก 'vagina (of an animal)'.
