\data\cauc\caucet
Proto-North Caucasian: *HrǝŁ_wĔ
Meaning: a k. of tree
Proto-Nakh: *dVHVχḳ
Proto-Avaro-Andian: *riḳ:(ʷ)V
Proto-Dargwa: *durk:
Proto-Lezghian: *raƛ̣:(ʷ)
Proto-West Caucasian: *Ĺʷa
Notes: For PEC we may reconstruct variants *HrǝŁ_wĔ and *rHǝŁ_wĔ (the latter would be better for explaining the PN form and PL *raƛ̣:(ʷ) - not *Harƛ̣:(ʷ) as would be otherwise expected). The EC-WC comparison is phonetically satisfactory, but there are some semantic doubts: in PEC it is obviously some coniferous tree, while in PWC it is a leaf-bearing tree (asp, ash-tree or willow).
