\data\cauc\caucet
Proto-North Caucasian: *q̇wɨ̆šV
Meaning: scoop, vessel
Proto-Avaro-Andian: *q̇ʷišV ( ~ -s-)
Proto-Dargwa: *q̇Iʷaš(a)
Proto-Lezghian: *q̇uš(a)
Notes: Reconstructed for the PEC level. Except for the irregularity of the Akhv. recording, correspondences are regular. Not quite clear is Tsez. ḳoši 'wooden spoon': perhaps it can be regarded as a modification of the same root under the influence of ḳowzi 'spoon' ( < Georg.), or else as a back-loan from Osset. (cf. Osset. ḳūs / ḳos 'scoop, dipper'; on its Caucasian origin see Abayev 1958, 642).
