Proto-North Caucasian: *q̇_wĭndǝ̆
Sino-Caucasian etymology: Sino-Caucasian etymology
Meaning: wall, fence
Proto-Avaro-Andian: *q̇:ʷindV
Proto-Tsezian: *qɨd ( ~ -e-,-ǝ-)
Proto-Lak: q:at:a
Proto-West Caucasian: *ʁ́IʷV(n)da
Notes: Correspondences are regular (except for some metatheses of labialisation), and the reconstruction seems satisfactory. Cf., perhaps, also Darg. Murg. (Musayev) q:inda-la lag 'a steep rise' ( lag 'rise'), if it can mean 'a rise, (steep like) a wall'. In this case we would have a PD form *q:int:a or *q:inda, which could reflect the same root if we suppose an assimilation *q:int:a < *q̇int:a.
