Proto-North Caucasian: *qĕrHV / *qĕr-di
Meaning: a k. of foliage tree (linden, asp)
Proto-Nakh: *daq
Proto-Avaro-Andian: *qorHV / *qo(r)-dV
Proto-Tsezian: *ʁ:ɔd A
Proto-Lezghian: *χer / *χer-t:
Notes: For PEC two variants must be reconstructed: 1) *qĕrHV ( > PA *qorHV, PL *χer); 2) *qĕrdi ( > PN *daq (with metathesis < *qad), PA *qo(r)-dV, PTs *ʁ:ɔd, PL *χert:). PEC *-di is a suffix, frequently present in plant names. It is possible that this *-di is originally an oblique base marker (note the frequent usage of tree names in a construction "X's tree" = "tree X").
