Notes :The bisyllabic structure explains the lack of the expected *cʔ > *ǀq development in South Khoisan as well as (possibly) the irregular correspondence between NK and ǂHoan. In NK, the glottal stop was metathesized (as it often happens in click structures of the *ǂVʔV > *ǂʔV type). The development *ci- > ši- in ǂHoan is strange, but there are no counterexamples.
