Comments:EDT 77, ЭСТЯ 1, 68-70. ЭСТЯ is probably right in distinguishing the roots *(i)āg- (а:ɣ- I) 'to rise' and *iāg- (а:ɣ II) 'to turn over, fall', although the former is only sparsely represented in modern languages, having for the most part dissolved within the reflexes of the latter. In OT the stems aɣ- 'to rise' and aɣna- 'to tumble, roll on one's back' are quite clearly distinct.
