\data\drav\ktet
Proto-Nilgiri : *aŋāḍĭ
Meaning : bazaar
South Dravidian etymology: South Dravidian etymology
Kota : aŋgāḍy "shop, bazaar"
Toda : ogod_y "bazaar (? < Badaga)"
Additional forms : Toda -d_- is unclear; however, explaining it as a result of borrowing (which is proposed by Burrow and Emeneau) is equally unsatisfying, since in Kannada we also have -ḍ-. Probably a dialectal form (a similar irregular development is also met in a few other cases).
